I have a project gun. It has been sitting around for years. The trigger mechanism is not working--any ideas for repairing or should I just replace the trigger assembly? It was under water for a period of time. It does not appear rusty.

.............This was the one you found in the river, right? You might contact Savage, tell them the problem and ask if they can repair or replace it.

Savage Firearms Company does not repair pre 1995 weapons.

Ivan,

What's the trigger look like? Is it open so you can see if it has broken
parts or missing springs?

I don't know if Savage changed trigger designs over the years. I have
three of them of various vintages, two used and not sure how old they
are, and whether their triggers would be the same. Are parts available?
