I have been watching this rifle for a couple of months. It was in the Cabala's in Owatonna with an outlandish high price tag. I stopped in tonight and the price was down some, but not enough. The department manager was just ready to leave, he had a rough day and was more then exasperated and tired. I told him I would take it for .40 cents on the dollar and he said yes. I was shocked.
I have been lusting over this rifle since they first came out way back then. This one is NIB with papers so I probable won't be firing it.
Jonathan Browning .50 caliber Mountain rifle from 1997.
I feel good about this.

Nice rifle. I have the exact same rifle as well ,NIB, never fired. I also have the 54 caliber with the steel finish that has been fired.

Why can’t that ever happen to me? Nice score. Beautiful gun.

I'm happy for ya.
Something to consider-
I'd heard rifles are like cars, if you don't use them as intended, they'll get 'lot rot' and die.

Just me, but I won't own an unfired gun. If it's too valuable to shoot, I'll pass on it or sell it. To each his own. I always admired those Brownings, too.

Shoot it and have fun. Don't save it for someone else, enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed.

You should be very proud of your good fortune. If I had one I'd probably shoot it anyhow. But then, I'm not a collector. Gorgeous rifle.

Great deal. you'll be surprised how many places will barter with you.
You crossed one off, unfortunately, I added a new one to mine: IMI timberwolf 44 mag pump action rifle. shot a friend's 347 mag and it was all over :groner:

Love those. My dad has hunted with one for as long as I remember.
