Hi all, Just wanted to say I got the new molds from Chris Sorgatz, don't recall his name on here right now.
They are almost to pretty to use. I'll use them but they are pretty.

I got mine!! They look great. After cleaning do I need to do anything to them before pouring lead in?

Are you guys talking about the group buy? The molds with the CB logo?

Yes, They have the logo and under the logo they have the letters PB, LN, WW, and OT. Once they cool and you dump them out you flatten out the letters that you don't need. Thus way you can easily tell one alloy from another.

Wait.... I get to pour molten metal in them, dump them out, then beat on the ingots with a hammer too ?

I love this hobby.....

Did you drill the stub on the bottom right mold, D-Rig, or is that just a sprue mark?

To those of you who thought they missed the boat, Lakehouse2012 is going to make these ingot molds available by becoming a Vendor Sponsor.

How much are those ingots weighing in at? They look bigger than 1lb. I would like to find something in the 5lb range.

Camper64

On average about 2.5 lbs.

Why not just take an old circle punch about 3/8" or 1/2" in diameter and stamp a circle around the one you have?

I have letter stamps and I put an "x" under what it is.

Those molds make some good looking ingots! My first thoughts when I saw the pictures was that a center punch would be a good tool for marking them. Maybe even a spring loaded one?

Flyingmonkey35, just wondering at 10# a throw if they tire you out pretty quickly? I realize that age and physical condition will play a part. After a long smelting session (800-1200 #) my wrist is tired from using my 4 cavity Lyman style molds. Being cast iron they may not be much lighter than those new molds.

I have the same molds.

They get filled while sitting on wire grates that let me use two hands to move them from the filling area. When hardened I slide them onto sheet metal over a wood pallet and use a gloved hand on the tab to tilt them over and drop the ingots. The molds don't otherwise get picked up until empty, so I'm not lifting ten pounds at the end of pliers or a vice grip.

I haven't converted what WW and Lino I have into these ingots. Everything else ingotted for personal use, including the pure, gets letter and number stamped with content. IOW, I could go for a blank mold, but Lakehouse told me it wouldn't cost less and at this time hasn't considered having one made for sale.
