My 94 year old father is hurting and in a nursing home, feeling very useless and helpless. He is largely deaf, largely blind, with constant and incurable sub-acute pneumonia. He has survived two very serious bouts of acute pneumonia. Tough bird!

His name is Bill, and he could very much use prayers. He is hurting greatly, too much reliving his combat with the 9th Div. in France, Belgium, and Germany. His lack of eyesight and hearing has him mostly isolated from the world. He is praying, as we all are, but there are hurts he is facing again and again that are largely beyond human comprehension. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated for his peace of mind and spirit. God has seen him through much, but this is a very hard time for him.

Thank you, and God Bless,
Bob

Father God, glory be Yours from all Your creation. We ask for care, compassion and peace for Bill as he endures pain, loneliness and emotional stress during these trying days in his life. Holy Father we pray in the Name of our Savior and Redeemer Christ Jesus, amen.

Albeit my dad fought for our country in the WWII Pacific Theatre (Philippines), at the end he, too, was almost sightless (acute cataracts), and faced similar challenges as your family, as well as your dad, are facing. You and him are surely in out thoughts and prayers.

My dad was 86 at his passing. He too was a WWII veteran, in a nursing home. He got so he was largely unresponsive to me. I still cherish the time I took him outside and pushed him in his wheel chair and just spent time with him. I think you should use this time to develop some good memories for yourself and your dad. You will draw on them for a long time. Meanwhile, I will pray for your wonderful dad and family that this time would be "easy" for him as he transitions from this world to the next. He is a member of the greatest generation, and he deserves the best.
