Wow, I am blessed.. looky what wandered into my tiny corner of the world..

According to my research, it’s a 1949 32 Win special..

Topped with what I believe to be about a 1959ish United 4 x 31 scope mounted in some vintage weaver pivot rings and bases... with a interesting reticle, kinda has a line through the center with a vertical tapered monument for a sight pattern.

Came with a bag of about 150 cases, some vintage Lyman dies, all for 400 bucks.. I don’t often get offers to buy guns, so even if I paid too much, I am thrilled!!!! I sold off a bunch of my digital camera dslr lens stuff to get the cash for it,

Now just gotta find a mould for it.. something from accurate possibly, with a flat point to go with that tubular mag...

Sooooo How did I do???

Nice .32!
The reticle you described sounds like a post reticle.

That was a good deal. More than fair.
If I'd had one in that good of condition, I wouldn't have sold it for less.

Marco, You got a very good deal ! The 32's are worth a bit more than 30-30 or 35 Rems. And with brass and dies that's great. I imagine like you mentioned in your little corner of the world guns like that are not seen for sale often and I would think prices in Alaska would be very high.
Good Luck with it !

Mine is a 1949 Marlin 336A in 32 W.S., it shoots cast extremely well. The 336A has a half magazine and a 24" barrel.

I love the post reticle K4 on your rifles cousin;my Marlin 36G 30-30. It should work in your thick forest up there well. Amazing deal you got, congrats.

The elderly gentleman I bought it from is selling out and heading south. He has been a dear brother and friend and reloader for many years. One of the men that started the tiny church in our little village. He is having health problems, the kind that will require closer medical facilities.. he got the Gun somewhere in Seattle from an older gentleman about 40 years ago in Washington state. That is all he can remember due to the nature of his illness unfortunately. He had 2 of these 336’s from the same era, and he offered me my choice between the 30-30 and the 32 win.. I wanted that 32..

I will love it and cuddle it... lol

It does have an interesting weaver scope mount and United scope... not able to find much info on the scope. Interesting turrets, and very interesting weaver mount setup.. never seen a weaver mount on hinges before..

Tomorrow I am going to disassemble and go through it. Bore is bright and ultra clean. It looks like Ballard rifling, and not the micro grove... but I need to get my Bore scope out.. no cross safety either.. love the grip of the stock.. so different then my Winchester.. it doesn’t rattle like my Winchester either..

Marko, my late father had a Marlin 30-30 with that scope mounting system. I got to hunt with it on occasion when I was a teenager. He let it go to a friend who needed cash—who pawned it and never recovered the rifle. I didn’t know about the whole deal until long after, or I would have made some effort to get it back.

Looked up United Binocular Co. in Old Rifle Scopes. It says they imported high-quality medium priced scopes in 1959-1961 and 1968-1981. Not a lot of information, shows something very similar for about $20 wholesale in the 1960's.

Love that rifle, what a find.
