Made in 1968 in 243 win. Scope is a complete mystery.

You'll put your eye out kid.

For your own safety, you need to let one of us take care of it for ya.

That's different for sure. Is that the same co as the bp manufacturer Schuetzen

Is it a Miller DeHaas action?

Almost looks like the scope is on backwards... probably showing my own ignorance though,.

Very good looking wood, and a great looking rifle. Tasco, Redfield and Bushnell also made external adjustable scopes could it be one of them. Others were unertal, lyman, Malcomb, Fecker. Look it over good for any markings. Check eyepiece and front bell as the markings may be on the under side.

A schuetzen (offhand) rifle chambered in the very unlikely 243 Winchester! Really?
It is a great looking schuetzen rifle for sure! Pope style stock. What is the butt plate cast out of?
Is there a palm rest or a provision for one?

My thoughts exactly. Neat looking rifle, but very odd caliber for a schuetzen style rifle! Wonder if it was another caliber, and somebody rechambered it to .243?

Nope was built in 1968 as you see it. Updated replica of Sharps Borchardt action.

A BRC action by Al Story ???? Its a nice rifle and very nice wood on it. Should be a shooter. Curious if it was meant as a Schuetzen rifle or varmint rifle in being in .243 caliber. A lot of the old single shots were rebarreled chambered to more modern rounds in the 50s, 60s and into the 70s.

Made by L. Harriman of Bowling Green, Ohio.

It's a modern gun.

Tried looking him up ---- no joy.

Is that one of those modernized Borschardt actions that Colt marketed for a couple years half a century ago?

Local gent to me. Boling Green Ohio is about 20 miles south east of me. Will ask around on it and him.

.

IMO, the scope looks to be a Wollensak or a Malcom copy of a Wollensak.

I didn't get that one or the 32-40 either. They were many great deals in that auction.

What? Not even close to a Wollensak, or a Malcolm! The scope body and objective lens are both much larger than anything either company ever made.

The auction described the scope as "6X home made, very clear, in micrometer mounts". The eyepiece resembles a Fecker. Focus is adjusted by sliding the eyepiece front to back and secured by a screw held tab. The objective looks familiar but it's not Unertl/Lyman/Litscherts/Fecker. Maybe from a Tasco target scope ?
