Has anyone ever seen an anodized aluminum .54 Maxiball mold before?
At least I think that this one is anodized but can't say for sure.
The chips in the finish have very little depth, but it doesn't appear to scratch like any paint would.

I couldn't find a match for the mold number either, so I don't know if it's a TC mold or who made it.
I don't know why a mold maker would choose that color to apply to a mold.
Any ideas about it?

Looks like a T/C mould to me. I used to have one just like that. Don’t know why they did them that way, but it’s nothing to worry about..

Over the years I've owned and still have T/C branded anodized Al molds and found they cast very well. Moreover, their Maxi-Ball molds have been exceptionally well dimensioned compared to the Lyman versions, which in my experience varied quite a bit (in the same caliber). Btw, the anodized Al molds were made by various manufacturers at different times, Ohaus and Shiloh come to mind.

Its one of the T/C molds towards the end of there mold making days for some reason they changed the shape of the maxi-ball design just before they ceased production. I don't have any info to tell you the weight but I think its about 435grs I remember the .50 cal weighed 370grs.

1Hawkeye, you are correct on it being 435 gr. The 50 cal. drops around 360 gr.
