Im trying to find info on a Lyman 515141 with a # 174 on it also. Can anyone tell me if this is a 50cal BP mold? Im trying to find out but having no luck with finding what its for. It looks almost like a Mini-Ball but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

It is for a 50 cal Smith carbine. Can also be used in a Maynard carbine. (Civil War)

I use mine in my 50 Alaskan and in the 500 A Square, it is a original 50-70 design IIRRC.

As was stated 515141 is a copy of the 350 grain bullet that was used in the 50-70.

It may also be used in other 50 Caliber bores but I use mine in the 50-70.

If you have one, cast with it and compare bullet diameter with bore dimensions. Some of hte newer 50s have a different idea of what a 50 should be.

I use it in my .50-70 NYS Militia Rem. RB.

Is the boolit the same diameter as a Maxi-Ball for .50cal ? I am wondering if it could be used for my muzzleloader and I have an opportunity to buy it. I have a Traditions evolution.

mine cast at .511 ,, ymmv but I do not think it suitable for a muzzleloader.

Use mine in my 50-90 Sharps and it works just fine.

Yeah, Thats a tad big for my BP and dont think they would go down the barrel with that diameter. Thanks.

You just need to buy a gun to match that mold now Mike, it's a common practice hereabouts. :)
