Hi everybody, I loaded up a bunch of different projectiles for the 70 cal Howdah and shot them today.

I use 16ga plastic hulls cut down to 1.6". I loaded today with 40 and 60gns of FFg, then a 3/8" fiber wad packed down tight, then the bullet seated on top. The Plastic hulls expand to hold the wad and bullets tightly in place. I know it's not traditional, but they work very well.
For projectiles today, I used the Lee 12ga 7/8oz slug, Lee 12ga 1oz slug, Lyman 12ga slug, and finally a .690" round ball.
I shot at a distance of 7 yds because the thing hits soo high above the point of aim. All of the loads tested were from the right barrel only. All of them hit very closely to each other, but were about 15" high. The 40gn loads shot to the center of the target and the 60gn loads hit about 3" to the right.

I had only shot the Lee 1oz slug before and it gave a nice group, but was very high. So today I thought that I'd try the 7/8oz slugs to see if they would hit lower on the target. They didn't. The only one that hit appreciably lower was the Lyman 1oz hollow base slug, but it was going about 100fps slower than the other 40gn loads, not exactly sure why.
Any thoughts on how to get this old pistol to shoot lower?
