A Friend that I hunt with is having a 20 BR Groundhog rifle being built

He ask me if the rifle could shoot cast bullets for off season plinking ??

LOL I had never heard of the 20 BR and looked it up [smilie=b:
So I figured I would ask here

I saw the 20 BR was listed 1 place as Over Bore
So I figured , sure he could shoot cast
But I didn't think that well

Or is there something I am missing ?

It wouldn’t be much different than shooting cast from a .204 Ruger. Doable but lots of 5mm jacketed bullets could be bought for the money required for a mould,.205” sizer, and gas checks.
I’m a 22-250 nut-but I doubt I’ll ever cast for one. Just my opinion; worth what you paid for it!

John,

With a proper fitting bullet and a good lube like MML+ or PC, no reason he shouldn't be able to push it relatively close to upper jacketed velocities.

Thanks
I will pass along the info
But I will add that I don't have any .205 molds or a sizer

So I can not help there

As IMO he was HINTING that I should cast for him

Maybe you should "hint" that he needs to buy a couple different molds and sizing dies and you would be happy to cast for him. Thats how I have a few molds in calibers that I don't even own.

LOL
I will give that a try
But I will point out Lino Type would IMO be a good lead and HE needs to buy it

Might just point out Rotometals as a good place to get it

But sadly , IMO he thinks I will buy everything and just GIVE him cast bullets
