Does this look like what you need? It was wrong for my "N" frame from 1977. Maybe it will fit yours. The hole was spaced wrong for mine.

If the hole is spaced too short it is for a K/L frame!

PM me with an offer.

Cheers,

Actually the hole was too long spacing from the rear in order to fit my "N" frame.

For y'all who are pawing through your parts piles, what distinguishes the 28 rear sight from the other N frame sights is the lack of longitudinal striations in the 28 - it's plain matte finished only. And the mounting screw location is different.

It certainly LOOKS like it....that ruler that you use is kind of hard to read.
My sight is 2 7/8" long with the mounting hole at about 3/8" from the front. Does that sound about right?
I am looking for a replacement because my sight has been reblued - apparently this 1960 made S&W Model 28 was a duty gun and the holster strap wore the bluing from the sight base and someone reblued just the sight base....go figure.
What a great cast bullet shooter!

Absolutely correct.

It qualifies as 2 7/8" OAL but the screw hole is .625" from the end and the entire sight tang is checkered, very finely checkered.

That's a M27 sight.

Gunpartscorp.com. (the successor to Numrich Arms) seems to have what you want. Not sure of the blade height on yours, but they have a “non-serrated” assembly for the model 28. I think it was $52 and change plus shipping. Might be just what you’re looking for.
