At a flea market of sorts at my local gun glub the other afternoon, I purchased a slab of mystery metal for $3. I asked what it was and the guy said he thought it was pure lead. I figured, what the hell, for $3 I can take a chance. I got it home and weighed it and it weighed about 18#. I was able to scratch it with my fingernail so I knew it was soft enough to be lead. It was certainly heavy enough. I measured it, then found out the weight per cubic foot of lead, and compared my numbers to it. Lead weighs in at 708 pounds be cubic ft. Figuring in the size, doing the math, I figured my slab should weigh in at about 19#. since my measurements were not exact, I would think I was close enough to say I managed to purchase an 18# slab of pure lead for the princely sum of three US dollars. I'm happy and I'm sure my 1858 will digest it just fine.

Had to gloat.:-D Thanks....
