anybody ever tried to make some?
they cost a bundle!
or does anybody have some they would be willing to rent me?
i have access to a ransom rest but i dont have the inserts.

CALDWELL HAMMR inserts would work also.

i was thinking maybe finding the appropriate plastic/hard rubber and taking a jigsaw and cutting out what i need.
i have access to a plasma cutter so the aluminum plates would be the easy part.

take the grips off a gun.
trace the shape.
cut it out of hard rubber (that seems like the best substance)
glue it to the metal plates.
see
i have free time but no money......
and when i have money
i dont have time to do any of this stuff.

I've made them out of wood and also from nylon for the Caldwell HAMMR rest. Don't know how these compare to the adaptors for the Ransom Rest, but the main problem seems to be inletting for the grip frame.

using wood did you need that plate at all?

apparently they are interchangeable.
do you have a photo of what you made?
i would love to see it!

Shotgun News has a gold covered 8th annual issue presently on the newsstands with an article about gunsmithing a Nagant pistol and the author explains how he made grips to fit the Nagant for a Ransom Rest.

That's a picture - a Nagant in a Ransom rest. The Ransom rest costs what? - 8 times what the (revolting) revolter does?
