Anyone know of a source? I don't care what type of rings. Thanks!

Check out Brownells website. Leupold still makes the redfield style junior one piece base and get the Burris rings with the inserts to prevent ring damage to your scope. Frank

Thanks! I'll have to ping Brownells. I only see one for an FN Mauser, aka standard length 98.

If you're looking for a scout type scope mount, look into the S&K brand, available either through the mfg., out of PA, or retailers.

Sorry, should have been more specific. I'm looking for a one piece receiver mount.

Are we in for a treat, map55b? Your guns are always cool.

See if you can locate a Buehler mount. He made a couple for me but no longer is around.

I've got weaver base stock and could make one up, but I'd like to just get something off the shelf. Seems like these pasts used to be plentiful but not so much anymore. I guess no one is doing this stuff anymore.

Don't hold your breath TBG. I've adopted a protege and I'm giving him my crappiest 93 that someone did a poor job of grinding down the rear bridge. I figured it would be easiest to get the scope set up right with on one piece base.

It's just me but I like to leave the clip slot intact on the rear bridge and modify the mount but I'm in the minority I know. My friend in high school over ground a hook safety Arisaka and that was a butt whooping shimming that thing back true! Good luck my friend.

You should do them the way you like them, I like to remove them, but I use a jig and mill them at 30 degrees. I bought four actions recently where all of them were ground poorly, so I'll have to doctor them.

The old Redfield (Denver) company made small ring one piece bases. You might find an old listing and chase one of those down. They have a relief cut for the stripper clip hump.

Thanks all. I'm taking a shot on these (https://www.ebay.com/itm/CCOP-Mauser-Kar-Swedish-1906-and-Small-Ring-Rifle-Scope-Steel-Base-SB-MAU002/181833123629?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649) found on e-Bay

when I first read this I thought are they getting hard to find?? Well times change. I like the redfield 1 pc but those on ebay should be fine. My small ring receivers all had issues fitting square on the rear. The front ring fit tite for me. I tried humoring them in with fine grit paper then applied some crazy type epoxy tinted black to base. never had any regrets. I felt the epoxy gave me a true fit which I felt was more important than holding them on. That is what the screws are for!

Just to close the loop on this topic. Times are changing, there are fewer actions available and probably even fewer folks doing this kind of work. Brownell's responded to day telling me that they no longer stock any one piece bases for the small ring Mauser. They refereed me to EGW. (http://www.egwguns.com/) Hopefully my knock offs from eBay will work out. Normally I prefer two piece Weavers. With any luck I'll live long enough to build out the dozen or so small rings that I have and be able to get the parts I need to do finish them.

Thank you all for your contributions to this thread. -map
