Does anyone have a source for surplus Krag parts? I know it is a long shot but I bought a bubba'd 1903 that needs everything but the action!! Has a chopped 1896 barrel (well, sight is a "96" anyway), and the most God awful attempt at "sporterizing" a Krag that you have ever seen!! Any help would be helpful. Thanks!!

Try eBay Grandpa‘s gun parts or movieman630. The Krag Collectors forum is a great source of knowledge.

E-bay. Enter "Krag" in the search. You can make it easier by narrowing the search to "outdoor sporting goods", otherwise you'll get some unrelated items to sort through like shoes. If you're patient and visit the site often you'll eventually get what you need, although at a higher-than-it-should-be price. Some folks have a lucrative business of buying any Krag they see at garage sales, yard sales, estate sales, etc., and parting them out -- selling the parts on e-bay. Other places that are righteous parts houses like Gun Parts Corp. and Bob's Gun Shop don't often have the selection you'll find on e-bay and are usually "out of stock" on many items.

I have several cutdown stocks. Let me know if you are interested and I will dig them out.

Yah, S&S for metal parts. There are some custom stockmakers even today who will cut you a copy of the original rifle, carbine, or Bishop sporter wood. On a lark I was noodling around in the last two weeks and found three or four. I've got a couple of actions that need to be barreled and made into something useful myself.

As I said, become a regular on the Krag Collectors forum and post your build. Plenty of Krag knowledge, history and good advice there if you are trying to put it back together historically or not. And they might be able to help you out on your parts search. I rebuilt a fake NRA carbine into a nice Krag Scout, might be an option. You can find my build on the Scout Rifle forum. Good luck.
