I'm heading up and across the border into Manitoba tomorrow to keep things sane I removed all the firearms from my self and truck. I had a loaded Smith 337 titanium j frame in my Brest coat pocket. A Glock 22 .40 S&W unloaded with loaded mag in case under front council. T/C compass .243 also unloaded with loaded mag. in case. And lastly A Ruger Mini 30 unloaded with 4 loaded mags uncased under back seat door. With the exception of the .243 being a part timer. This is the "Standard Load of weapons ". I do live and work in a very rural environment.
Habits, laws, and environments will have a great bearing on this but it would be interesting to hear what is on your person and or in your POV MOST of the time. Feel free to share Loads, holsters, sight or optic info and condition of carry. For those that feel this is just to private please remain silent.

Depends ......
There's generally a side arm within reasonable reach . In my last habitat from mid August through mid February that was accompanied by an O/U or pump 12ga occasionally an auto . Used to keep a knock about AR cartridge rifle in the seat springs of the standard cab P'up.
In the new habitat just a pocket protector close by . Not much call for a 12 ga or a light rifle to shoot ducks geese and varmints on the way home to work or playing hooky when you go from population density of 1.6 to 24 and a county of 8,000 sqmi to 859 .

Mostly riding my recliner these days.

First and easiest to reach is a fully loaded Cz-52 7.62x25with the hammer back on safe.

Second is my new Excel Accelerator in .22mag, in case, unloaded but with 2 loaded 9 round mags and a couple of boxes of ammo. Behind that is the Hipoint C9, slide locked back, loaded mag in the well, 2 more loaded mags in the case with it.

And more things that could cut/slice/dice ya within reach than I care to talk about.

Including my EDC which at the moment I forget who made but it is a 3.5" assisted open with pocket clip that slips out like greased lighting. Its made enough trips on my barbers strop that she would be coming out the far side before you know its going in.

Bedside is my wife's .45 light commander. Car console has my HK VP9. If I carry it is a Radom P64 (9x18), or the VP9.

If I need a rifle it is the M1 Garand.

Active duty and live in the city. So don't normally carry anything. I spend most of the day surrounded by guys armed to teeth. When i venture out off to a hunt though that's a different story as soon as hit city limits. While fishing i carry a High Point C9 in the 5tack box with 2 full mags of 125g Lee bullets over 4g Unique. Never know when a gator is going to get to curious about what i taste like. While hunting i carry a Ruger black Hawk .357 Mag working on a new load at the moment with gas checked semi- wad cutters. I have a current load of 158g Lee RNFP (the bevel base mold) over 11g 2400. These bullets don't like velocity and i hope the new gas check bullets will fix that. For still hunting I carry savage axis gen II .270 Win with Lee 130g over Rx7 (cant remember the charge) for 2000fps. Great seat up with 1-9x scope i can hit anything out to 200 yards. For brush hunting and stalking i use Mossberg 464 in 30-30 with a Lee 170g over 2400 (don't remember the charge but velocity is about 1500 fps). Light recoil, plenty of energy, and fun and accurate to shoot. I need to upgrade the sights because i am horrid with buck horn open sights past 50 yards. For muzzle loader season i use Knight Wolverine 50 cal with a Lyman great plains bullet over 70g Thriple Se7en. I am good with sights out to about 50 yards and if i scope the muzzy i am good to 100. So i need peeps for that one as well.

I also always carry a shot gun in the truck when i go into the woods with a nice assortment of shells. All cast by me and reloaded by me. From Bird shot, to rabbit shot to, this larger shot that i say is good for coyote sized things. I have .30 buck shot loads that pattern way better than factory. I also have slugs but my slug loads are stretch to be good at 50 yards. The slugs are still a work in progress. Those Lee slugs are proving to be quite the challenge.

I sleep next to a loaded 12g with alternating buck and skeet loads. I live in an apartment, so i don't want to hit the neighbors by accident. I also have a loaded 9mm Millenium G2 in the bed side table. The wife has her 9mm CPXY. Same 125g Lee bullet over 4g Unique.

I generally only carry a subcompact .45 ACP pistol, sometimes I put in a .45/.410 revolver, and when it is real hot a little .380 pistol. I am entertaining carrying a .45/410 derringer though. I have no reason to put a rifle in car yet, at least not until the situation starts to call for it.

But if I went into Canada, it would be to pass through to Alaska on the Alaskan Highway. So I would use the Canadian forms and take only my huge .45-70 revolver or my large 44 magnum revolver and a 45-70 lever rifle. of course I might take in a shotgun for bird hunting though.

A .243 18” Savage 110. And usually a shotgun. In my everyday driver. Bedside is a 870 12 ga 18” and a P97 Ruger .45. I hunt for varmints twice a day from the road to the house.

I will try to keep it short, but still give a reasonable amount of info that is not too against my S.A. self imposed rules.

So.... My CC firearm is always on me & that could be any of 4 different calibers & platforms from snubbies up to 45Govt. depending on what I am wearing & where I am going.

From about Sept until May depending on what I am hunting there is almost always a 12ga pump or a 20 ga. single in my vehicle if I am in the vehicle. Occasionally a .22 for small game, but the shotguns cover more critters, & from hunting bunnies & squirrels, pheasants, grouse & huns, ducks & geese, & turkey to deer, the 12 or even the 20 shotguns cover a lot with the 12ga as the one to cover them all.

The rest of the year, unless I am going to go shoot something else that I have, I only keep the CC firearm on me.

I spend a lot of time in the woods & I do not want to carry the long firearms if I am not going to need to use them for any reason, so I do not like to leave them in the vehicle unattended, even hidden due to all the criminals & jack ***** that like to steal from unattended vehicles out in the sticks. So, I just carry the CC firearm I want at the time & that may even be something other than the 4 I mentioned earlier...

Anyway, so much for being "short", but I participated... And, No , I don't need an award for participation though... LOL
;)

Next?
;)

BTW! Have a Great trip to Manitoba!

Normally I just have my CCW handgun, two reloads, and a very sharp Case lockback. My CCW rotation consists of S&W 637 .38 Special, Kimber Micro .380, Glock 42 .380, and Glock 26 9mm. When I'm walking around on the farm I have one of those plus my Henry .22 rifle or one of several .30-30's.

Just fyi, never try to take any kind of handgun into Canada. Unless something has changed in the past couple of years, that's a huge no-no. Long guns are a different story though, and as long as you fill out the proper forms there shouldn't be any issue.

I am not sold on leaving firearms lying around unprotected. I usually don't keep guns in my car, where they might be stolen whilst I am abroad shopping. Why turn a car thief into an armed robber? My CCW rides on my person, save when I am going into a firearms restricted area, like a Post Office, Airport, courthouse, school, etc...

While hunting, extra firearms are usually left in camp at the cabin. Too many meth-head socialists who burgle cars out in the woods up where I hunt.

I can agree, but unless something has changed that I don't know about, if I was traveling through to Alaska, I could get a permit to transport a handgun too.
This article was written four years ago:

But then it may be easier to just take a ferry to Alaska instead of going through Canada. The handgun permit looks to be hard to get.

The star PD was a nice gun wish I still had mine. Nothing compared in size and weight in 45 that was not 3 or 4 times the price in those days.
Star made quite a few good guns to bad they are gone.

Usually have a Glock 26 or 19 on me. If going out of town, I bring an AR15 collapsed down in a discreet bag with 10 loaded magazines.

My daily CCW, S&W Shield 9mm. On long trips to unfamiliar areas I'll add a S&W M&P 40 or 1911 in .45. If I'm going to be out in the woods, A S&W 60-15 PRO 3" replaces the Shield.

Woods walking; either a G43 9mm, or a Ruger SA 4 1/2" 44 Special. In my vehicle, 38 Special S&W Airweight, a S&W Model 60-4 38 Special, and a North American Arms 22 LR derringer.

Looks like these are the requirements for bringing a handgun into Canada:

Restricted firearms

These weapons can only be used for target shooting on approved ranges, and are expected not to be used for hunting or self-defense.
To bring a restricted firearm into Canada you must obtain an Authorization to Transport permit (ATT) in addition to the Non-resident Firearm Declaration or PAL. This must be obtained in advance from the Chief Firearms Officer of the province where the firearm will be going, or where it will be crossing the border. You do not need to use this form if the firearm is being shipped by a licensed carrier

most handguns
semi-automatic rifles and shotguns that are capable of discharging centre-fire ammunition, have barrels between 105 mm (4.14 inches) and 470 mm (18.5 inches) long, and are not otherwise prohibited
firearms designed or adapted to be fired when reduced to a length of less than 660 mm (26 inches) by folding, telescoping or other means
firearms restricted by regulations

Boy, I'm way underarmed compared to many it looks like. On the rare occasions I'm carrying, its just a Taurus M85 or sometimes my old M-43 Firestar in 9mm. There is usually an AR with 120 rds in mags, or some other long gun in my SUV, along with whatever handgun of the day I have in there. As well as whatever is still there after my last range trip, today that is an M-14 and an FN-49 in 7.92x57.
