Of all things, this was the oddest in years. A gent, out of the blue, offered me a free rifle, cost of shipping only. He's not exactly poor, decided he didn't need another quarterbore, and picked me as the lucky recipient.
Yes, I know, everything went through two FFLs, all above board, and the rifle is getting a complete safety inspection today.

This is it.

He even included a brand new set of Hornady Dies, still in the plastic, and as factory ammo is $30 for 20, I will definately be reloading for it...

I have never used cast in a .25-06 but there's no reason it won't work if you throttle back to about 2,000 FPS or a little less. I've had very good luck with cast in a .257 Roberts and the .25-06's the same with a little more powder capacity.

The Lyman 257418 and the RCBS 25-100-FN and the 25-120-SP give me excellent restults. Hollow pointed naturally./beagle

25-06 is one of my favs. My current favorite is a Ruger Number 1 stainless, it loves the Hornady 120HP flat base pushed by Reloader 22 and a Fed 210m. Yours looks like a Howa from the picture. Is it?

Yes, Howa 1500 with 22" Sporter barrel, and Boyds laminated stock.

Just a thought, you lucky dog you! In real overbore cases like the 25-06 it's sometimes desirable to cut case capacity. This can be done bi inserting another case inside the parent case, a .223 for instance, or by adding a measured amount of filler, lead alloy for instance to the case then drilling a flash hole path out. Just a thought, take it or leave it.
