Kind of surprised nobody has done this before, but Cimarron/Uberti is now selling a Winchester 94 clone. Looks pretty nice, if it comes minus the rebounding hammer and manual safety and costs less than a Miroku I could see them becoming popular. Only problem is, there are still oodles of nice Winchester 94's out there for less money. They bring out a .38-55 and I would be sorely tempted!

I'd take one in 32-40, I would want it in rifle form tho. Doesn't look like it has the safety on the tang.

Huh. A 94 in 44 will be in my stable soon. If they make one of these is said caliber it could be a contender. Especially if the wood looks that good in person.

$1,100 plus ! No, I could buy a rat and rebore for half that.If in the right place at the right time, you can get a pre-64 94 and rebore for $700.
I think the Philippine and Turkish gun makers could produce an affordable 94 clone. The Italians and Japanese apparently can't.

AND it's a carbine. Who want a carbine for serious cast boolit shooting ? AND you can't scope it. For $1100 I could find an 1893 Marlin in 32-40 or 38-55 with a good bore that I could scope too !
A quick trip around the net found a dozen 32-40/38-55 Marlin 1893 rifles with asking prices under $1500. These will appreciate the repro will not.

I probably should not comment on this but I will.

I have a newer Miroku Winchester in 44 Mag. It has the rebounding hammer and the tang safety. I did not like the rebounding hammer so I removed the rebounding part. It took less than 20 minutes to do this including taking the rifle down and back together. The Uberti one is probably a very nice rifle and if they make it to the pre 1964 specks of the Winchester it will be a fine rifle. The Miroku Winchester is better than any Winchester made post 1964 as to quality it just has the rebounding hammer and the tang safety. I like the safety but the rebounding is to easy to remove to have it there if you do not want it.

I do. A long and heavy lever action isn't going to do me any favors.

I am not paying $1,100.00 for any 94, be it Winchester or Cimarron. I can buy 2 used 336 Marlins for that price. Gun manufacturers are pricing me out of the market. Soon only the rich will be able to afford firearms and there will be no need for gun control. Pricing will take care of that. my .02 anyway, james

I paid $1300 for this Win/Miroku 1873 "Deluxe' with grade IV/V wood chambered for 44-40. I can ring a 200 yd silhouette ram 10 for 10 with iron sights. I have Shilohs for any thing longer. I like them so much I bought another with a tapered 24" octagon barrel shoots every bit as good.I have never seen a Uberti any other modern reproduction nicer, I have bought four of Win/Miroku's offerings have been very pleased with ea. of them, except the .357. I sold it and bought the tapered 24" in 44-40 .

I looked on MIdway and they are selling Winchester carbines for less than 1000. You would have to pay an FFL for shipment but it is a Winchester. Right now available in 25-35, 32 Special and 38-55.

They had Winchester rifles for a while with 26" barrels.

Just to be fair, if the Cimarron 94 has the half cock hammer and no safety then it is closer to the original than the Miroku produced version bearing the Winchester name. The rebounding hammer and manual safety are by far the biggest gripes people have about them. As long as they work properly I don't care, but it seems silly for someone who already knows that they hate these features to still pony up the $$$ and start modifying it right out of the box. And yet they still do!

I find that interesting. . .

The "standard" 20" 1894 with a pre-64 date seems to go around here for about $700-$800. The post-64's bring a little less, but they're still up there, given that they weren't as big a travesty as the later Model 70.

But none of them are exactly what you'd call hard to find in decent shape - unlike the earlier Winnies. I find it strange that Cimmaron/Uberti would be making this decision to produce them. Given their MSRP, they'll probably end up right in the same ballpark as the real thing. Hell. . .it's a milled steel and walnut gun. More power to 'em!

If it had no safety and reliably fed chambered for .41 mag then I'd be getting one.

Considering that pre 64 carbines sell notably below that level, and will increase in value over time, I don't much understand. Now if they did a button magazine sporter, or other less common varation I can get interested!

I guess it is an obvious choice, but I’ll still take an original.

For $500-$600 you can get a Savage 99 .303 shooter maybe a .30-30, works great with cast, no bullets restrictions and probably more accurate. A .300 Savage 99 works well with cast, brass can be cheap (cut-off .308) and is a step up. The Featherweight 99's are very light and handy without issues. Marlins are dandy, but few are as light as the featherweight 99's. I know, I have at least a half dozen each along with a couple Marlin flat-bolt 36's. For $1100 you can find very, very nice featherweight 99's in .308.

Well, maybe we could all at least agree that it is a good thing to see another lever action on the market? :???:

Hear Hear, that’s for sure! And it has real wood stocks, too. Never know they may add some more variations.
