I managed to win a Ruger #1 barrel in 45/70 off an auction site. I figured that it should be big enough to fit on one of the Martini actions I own. While I await delivery I thought I'd see if anyone here has done something similar.

Threads will be different, Ruger has 1 -16 and Martini has 1-14 and may be bigger depending on which Martini.

Figured on having to remove the threaded portion of the barrel, have the correct threads cut, deepen the chamber, and fit the extractor. Saves me from buying a blank and profiling it, anyway.

Martini action should be 55 degree whitworth threads. Shoulder minimum on barrel needs to be at least 1.10 diameter.

so no, you can't re-cut because both are same major diameter, the classic swap is to a n SMLE No 1 Mk 3 barel, which threads are same as because conversion of martinis was part of the plan when the enfield was being designed/accepted, so martini thread was used on the production enfields. you can still get #1 Mk3 bbls from numrich.
