Around $28 for imr. Closer to $20 for unique. $25ish for faster pistol like titegroup. Started using promo for pistol. $125, including tax, for 8# at fleet farm.

Round here 28 is the cheapest I've found for winchester 748/760 and most places are 32 IMR powders are a touch more.

Depends on what store I go to. At my club its about 22 bucks not matter what name brand. At the sporting goods stores its around 35 to 40 bucks depending on name brand. At the gun shows i can get powders aroubd 24 to 26 dollars.

At my club I can only buy 1 case of primers and 1 pound of primers per day. At the stores and gun show I can buy what ever i want.

The Walmart near me is now stocking reloading supplies. Very limited but they said they are trying to expand it. The limited amount of powders were around $30. Can't remember what the primers were but it's a start.

I don’t know. It’s been years since I bought any locally. Powder Valley is the barometer. Their prices have gone up a good bit. Use the Wayback Machine to see what they’ve been over the years. It goes back the early 2000s from what I remember.

I was hoping that just as the price of loaded ammunition has gone down considerably, (nearly half in my area) reloading supplies would also. NOPE. Primers are still over 4 cents. And most powders are staying the same or going up.
25 ish for Hodgdon. 22ish for the colored dots. Nothing under $20 anymore around me.

Where I buy locally all Win primers are 31.99 per thousand. My most recent powder purchases were: CFE Pistol $22, CFE223: $21, Titegroup: $17, but its been several months since I last bought powder.

I’m an hour away from Powder Valley so I’m spoiled. My LGS charges a few dollars more per pound to cover gas and time (he buys from powder valley as well). My last purchase was 8 pounds of 700x at $15 per pound if I remember correctly.

There is a Sportsman’s Warehouse about fifteen minutes from my house. In the last two months I have paid $24.99 for a pound of Accurate No.2. and $32.99 for H4895. At 9% sales tax that comes out to $27.24 and $35.96.

Conditor22

Last I checked H4895 was $26 at BiMart and every month or so they run $2 off

The best place I've found to buy powder is local reloading forums. I just passed up $14 a brick for primers and 20 a pound for rifle powder because I didn't want to drive 60 miles to get it.

From $22 for TiteGroup to $28 for IMR at Academy. I recently paid $36 at a LGS for IMR4198 and I felt ....dirty. But I needed it and had been looking for months! I have a big jug of Varget and one of Unique so I'm mainly burning up inherited powders. Black powder is a problem to get here. No one wants to carry it and if they have it it's expensive.

Was at Midwayusa.com today, looking at Starline 7.62x25 brass. As I really did not see me ever using up 500 of them.

Just for kicks I looked to check powder prices. They had Red Dot 4 lb for 84$, and a button below letting me know that if I had a 150$ order they would take away the haz-mat. So I grabbed 2k of small pistol primers, CCI 500's at 33$ per thou and got it all coming this way. There was 16$ shipping, but scattered over powder, primers, brass, its still cheaper than I can find local, and easier. Shop from my recliner.

Pays to look around sometimes and see what different outfits are doing.

Gents, enjoy the freedom that you have! Here in Australia we are paying $AU68 for a 500gm tin of smokeless, $84 for a kg of black, $AU 65/1000 for primers. Ammunition is worse at about $AU2-3 per shot. Starline 38/55 long brass $AU170/100, even the humble old 45/70 brass is about $AU120/100

There are a lot of reloading components that seem to have disappeared, 218 Bee brass, 25/35, 25/20 etc. I have to make 218 Mashburn Bee cases by necking down 32/20 brass.

Last Summer was the last time I was in a store(Fleet Farm) that sold powders, & they ranged from $19+/- to $27+/- IIRC. per pound or 14 oz., depending on mnfr..

As well, IIRC, primers were sold at around $4+/- .

The price of a pound of 2400 at a LGS there in Rochester,MN, was around $20+/- earlier last year. (2400 seems to have been hard to find last couple years, for me anyway, and I felt lucky to get some.)

I have since been buying in bulk online, since it is not that often I get to a place that sells such items & they are usually less expensive if I buy online when the hazmat is free or reduced. Otherwise, I could just drive & get the items for approx the same cost, if I were to buy in small quantities & by the pound/14 oz. at a couple pounds at a time. Bulk online , for me, is the better way to go right now.

I am well stocked now, as far as I can tell, based on my own shooting usage, so I am at a point to just buy as I need for my components as I use them up. If anything, it is primers that I will use up before the powders are gone, so they are the items to keep an eye on for me.

Costs always seem to rise & not fall, and "good deals" are not always available "when you want them to be", ( "Day late & dollar short"), so if the OP was asking the reason of deciding on whether to buy now,or not, my suggestion is to buy as much as you can afford when ya can until you reach the point you think you are set for a while. Then buy some more...
LOL ;)

Moved to KY from WI last year and powder and primers are pricier here, about $2-$4 a lb on powder and about the same on primers. Locally about 28-30 for powder and about $35-37 for primers. Local gun show had powders for $20-22 a pound, didn't see primers. Well stocked on what I use so didn't need to buy any here. Did take advantage on the last sale a Graf's and ordered powder and primers for less than $20 a pound for Blue Dot and about $30/K for primers. Back in WI was getting Red Dot and Bullseye for $18-19 in the 8# jugs, primers about $30-32/K at gun shows.

Hi 20's to almost $40 for 1 lb cans of most powder types.

IIRC LGS has some alliant pistol/shotgun powders for 28$, another shop out of town had Hodgdon at $32 lb. Most rifle powders started there and went up in price.

I think some of it may be from the end of the shortage a few years back, with the added costs involved to get product at that time.

LGS has powder for $26 to $30 per pound, and primers run $31 per 1000. I just took his last 3 pounds of Benchmark, for $26 per pound, the last time I was there. I also go up to Recobs' to get my reloading stuff, and they have some good deals, sometimes. Prices are all over the board, when traveling though, as anywhere from $24 to $38 for certain powders. If you need it, you better get it, as I don't see it getting much cheaper, for the next couple of years.

The LGS is quickly pricing its way out of business. But sometimes you have no other choice.

To avoid that, look for sales or "free Hazmat" ads from online sellers. Keep a list of powders you need/want and stock up when it is more affordable. IMHO everyone should have a minimum of one years supply on hand and build up to a 5-10 year supply as they can afford it.

Up here in Canada prices are all over the map depending on which powders you are buying. Most are over $40 per pound and many up to nearly $50 per pound. There are some imported powders that are running much less and are $130 Canadian if bought in a 5 pound container. (Plus taxes and shipping, but if you make an order of over $200 with that particular company the shipping is included for free.)

The nearby Ace Hardware, Called --the General Store-- has powder from $22 (Hodgdon Pistol powders) to $37 (New IMR and Alliant rifle) per pound. They also have sales. Right now Reloder 7 is $8.99, IMR 3031 $13.99.

Sportsman Warehouse just up the street has similar prices, but sales are usually only a couple of dollars less per pound.

It has been decades since I bought powder while in a store.

My latest orders were from Bartlet. I am now pretty stocked up on WC 844 (at $99 / 8 lbs) and WC680 (at $120 / 8 lbs).

Even with shipping & Hazmat, it is pretty easy to stay under $15 / lb with an order of 2 or 3 of jugs.

Yep, it's on sale this week, other flavors vary a buck or two?, they have discontinued some powders and dropped the prices to cost?, and they will give you the $2 off, limited to on hand supply picked up Leverevolution for $18 IIRC.

Prices here in the People's Republic of Massachusetts are all over the place, and not much better in the Free States north of us. However, there are bargains to be found. Most of the LGSs are insanely overpriced, apparently buying stuff online and re-selling at a 50% markup (that's the only way to get to $37/lb powder!) There is only one local shop that really caters to reloaders (the rest do it as a sideline), and he has very reasonable prices; just got Bullseye there for $24 and Unique for $27 for one pounders.

The best deals I've gotten lately have been at gun stores re-selling "new old stock". All the old guys who've been hoarding vast stocks of powder, primers, and bullets seem to be dropping dead now (makes sense, since the folks born during the depression---the real big-time hoarders---are all in their 80's now) and their widows are taking their supplies to a few local shops to dispose of it. Last primers I bought were CCIs from the 90's at $10/K. Last powder I got was a new 8 lb jug of 4227 from c. 2005 for $100. That should take care of my cast boolit shooting for the next month or two!

Problem around here isn’t as much cost as it is trying to find a shop that sells it. Gun shops, especially well equipped ones, are far and few between here in Central NYS!

I live in a small town and no one sells powder, primers,or bullets. So I have to order out as they say. I have two jugs of IMR 4759 that I use for cast bullets in my Finn model 27 7.62x54r. Hopefully I can get the barrel swapped out on a model 39 that someone shot corrosive primed ammo in and never cleaned the barrel after that. Plus sitting in a closet for about 10 years. Looks like a coal mine with the lights off. And except for the sights is totally shot. Way beyond shot. Frank

To much ! Once in a while I come across someone at a gunshow that has some clean older unopened 1 pound cans of a powder I use and can buy it for $ 15-18.00.
I am fortune in powder supplies as I have more than I will shoot in my lifetime but just like another gun I don't need when I see it at a good price I buy.

Conditor22,

That Titegroup & HiSkor 700X prices are amazingly low as compared to this area I live in for LGS or even box stores.

The Trail boss is so low as to make me wonder how it could be at that price anywhere.... I'd be buying their stock most likely if I could do it & afford the cost of all of it...

Most of the rest of the prices are about the same as here. The selection though is outstanding compared to what I see when I go looking.

I have spent more now on online sales since the variety is not what I would like to see in local stores( 60 +/- miles within my location/home), unless there are "specials" I do not know about, or any stores that I am not aware of that have components to buy.

( I am feeling pretty "set" for most powders I use, but I am always looking for more & better deals. Primers is my "focus" now, for the most part, when it comes for components... No primers/caps, no shoot much. ;) unless ya just shoot flintlocks.. LOL)

Thanks for taking the time to post up the pics to show the prices!

Nice!
I wish they would do that here, & let us know before they do. I am usually a "day late or a dollar short" when sales like that ever happen.

Reminds me of the, "You should have been here yesterday! We were slaying them!".
Usually hear the same when the fish are biting real well.
Everyone in that "we" has a cell phone, and all know me, but forget to call when the bite is hot...They tell me afterwards...

GBenchmark is usually the most expensive around here with an average of about $29 for a pound. They must know it shoots the tightest in all my small caliber rifles. Trailboss isn’t mush less. I get a kick out of the $22 to $29 fluctuations between powders depending on which one you choose to buy.

Primers are normally $2.99 to $3.99 per 100

I finally just started buying them by the box of a 1000 so I don’t run out so quickly. Boxes are normally $39.99. No brakes for bulk.
