So I installed the XS full rail on my 1895 Marlin.
I need a taller front sight that is dovetail.
Go with a straight blade or brass bead ?
Also Brass or Blued ?
Looking at the ones from Skinner.

I have a blued front on a 336, I avoided a bead because I was concerned about covering up my target. With it being a blade it's a straight 6 o'clock hold. Their pretty nice sights for close, and fast work.

I have blades on my 1895's and beads on my 1894's. The blades seem to give me better resolution at longer ranges.

So does your XS rail have a ghost ring rear sight / peep? You may want to consider a fiber optic front sight, especially if for hunting at poor light conditions. For target shooting, I like blades. Dan

I've found blades, and thin ones, better for target shooting.
For example: Everybody talks about how accurate the 03's were, and the front sight looks like a razor blade up there.

For hunting, I can acquire a brass or white painted bead-- or better yet, a 'fire sight' bright glow dot much faster.
