After casting for over 5 years, I finally jumped into the rifle realm. I was always apprehensive at trying this, especially with gas operated guns, and that is most of what I run. The 300 blk. pushed my over the edge and this was my first try with a 230 gr Lee mold for my 10.5" PSA AR upper. Also my first try at powder coating. Those rounds shot beautifully! Loaded with 9 and 9.6 gr of W-296, they punched neat 2" groups at 50 yards. All fed flawlessly, another thing I was told was nigh impossible with subs and this powder. Not bad for my first run with a cheap TruGlo red dot. Can't wait to iron the kinks out. I think I need to buy some more molds....

You will find that this addiction has no cure.

getting rifles to work with cast is very satisfying, my first attempts a few years ago were massive groups, not even sure why at this point. but after more reading and trying I can do 2moa at 2k fps with either PC or PP and im really happy about that. revolvers on the other hand just seemed to work right off the bat with the first bullets I ever casted.

Early success is the worst way to get hooked! My 30-06 shot well right out of the gate. It's been work ever since!

Indeed. I was already addicted, now I'm reaching a all new level. I've probably got 20 molds, for 12-15 handguns. Now casting for 20+ long guns, I can only guess what that number will be in a year. Dear Lord this might get expensive.

I may have a few j-word bullets around, probably 180 gr for my 30-06 A.I., but unless I loaded them up some years ago everything I load is cast... I have one rifle that has fired factory loads many years ago. None of my handguns know what a factory load is........ except the 22/45......

I like the challenge. Then the pay off success. I am glad you had success. That feeling is what hooks you.
