The hole that holds the set screw for the sizing die on my Lyman 45 is stripped out. I think the previous owner was a little aggresive with the allen wrench.

Any harm in drilling and tapping to the next size up?

Should be no problem. I have a 45 where the former owner took out his hot temper on his tools. He had to braze a 1/4" nut to the frame andfit a bolt to hold the die in after twisting the original out. It looks terrible but works fine.

....or a threaded insert or heli-coil. I think I would just drill and tap a larger size though. You would end up doing that to put the insert in anyway.

+1 Doug. I used a heli-coil an my one press and its still holding after 3 years. I used a small amount of loctite on the insede of it just to lock it in to start the screw. The auto parts stores sell them.

Drilled and tapped it to 3/8" - worked out fine.
