I use a bore bristle brush with a wrap of bronze wool. The tornado brush will not get down into the grooves.

I’ve been using Chore Boy over a well used brush for years but before buying one of these “wonder brushes” I wanted to get people’s opinions. Guess I’ll just stick with the old way of cleaning with Chore Boy. I use it dry before solvent seems to get the lead out better for me.

Before Chore Boy I used extra fine steel wool but didn’t like the tiny remnants it left behind after cleaning.

Not putting anyone down. But let the tornado brushes for the professional gunsmiths. They should not even sell them in the stores. I saw them at walmart.

Only got a couple of them with the coiled wire. Work great for shotguns. Never tried on rifled bores. Frank

Have a few and use them on a regular basis. Generally in the first scrub with#9. Don’t seem to help or hurt either way. I do finish off with a normal brush. So far I haven’t gotten to the point of needing the bronze wool, but there’s always a first time

I read that the hard wire will wear on the corners of the lands in a rifled barrel. I had one but it was 12 gage and that's all I used it in.

They are for smoothbores.

Wonderful for shotguns when used with Kroil. Let it soak, then scrub, plastic wad residue comes right out.

I used them for shotguns way back before plastic wads became the norm. Resting the barrel muzzle on your boot when scrubbing, it would leave an impressing pile of lead when finished.

When I used one to clean the barrel of my M96 Swedish Mauser, over time the rifling wore the tornado brush wire so that the brush fell apart and I had a bunch of little half circles of stainless wire.

only brush I use. I have scraped more lead out of old .22 rim fire barrels with them. they also do good on copper fouled bores.

I'm not sure I'd want to run a stainless steel brush down my rifle bores. It seems to me like it would wear the rifling. I mean, it *would* wear the rifling unless it's softer than the barrel.

Well yeah, like I said, unless it's softer than the barrel. Tempering and chemical composition are a factor. I'd have to call the manufacturers of the tornado brush to verify that before I just went for it.
