Uberti Smokewagon 44-40 Range Results

Went to range today for the first time with my 1873 Uberti Smokewagon in 44-40. I bought all the stuff to load with it from Starline brass,RCBS cowboy dies and a RCBS 44-200 cowboy bullet that I ended up powder coating. This round is brand new to me but it is such a pleasure to shoot with 7.5 grains of Unique. I love this old cartridge! Since it doesnt have rear sights it took a little to get used to because i cant hardly see these days but Im pretty pleased with the accuracy at 15 yards for a starting load. Im sure this old gal will be a constant range companion.

Looks like you have a winner there pardner. The .44-40 is one of my favorite cartridges(along with the .45ACP and .41 magnum). Yours seemed to be "on the money" too. I'd be proud to be seen "out and about" with her too. james
