marlin 1895 help

Hey guys not sure if I'm posting in the right spot but here goes. I just recently bought a 2002 model marlin 1895 45-70 and when I cycle it empty it gets locked up when I go to close it. I first thought the carrier was dragging on the follower but that's not the case. It does this when fully open and the carrier raises ever so slightly and when it's directly in front of the follower it hangs but it will close with more force. Have any of you experienced this kind of issue. I'm fired up to get casting and loading for this hog but I'd like to get this little issue worked out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
