I have already selected a nice 38-44 load using the 358429 thanks to the help of many fine members.

But I cannot find any 38 Spl +P (20,000 psi) loads for the 358429 (170 gr). 5.0 grs Unique is below 20k per info I’ve seen. I’m thinking 5.2 grs Unique or 5.6 grs of Power Pistol should get me there.

Appreciate your recommendations for a 358429 38 Spl +P loading limit 20k psi.

Thank you

The handbook "One book/ One caliber" The complete reloading of the 38spl. Has the #358429 Lyman bullet listed. For the standard 38spl a start load with Unique is 3.8gr. and a max load @ 5.0. Seems to me your 5.2gr. estimate should be safe for +P 5.0gr has a listed pressure of 16,700. Gp

I checked Brian Pearce’s 38-44 loads (ref: Oct 2016 Handloader)...5.6 grs (Little Dandy Rotor #8) Power Pistol with 170 gr SWC Keith is just below his 38-44 recommendations and may well be close to max 20k psi. I’ll give some a try. I just love the way Power Pistol measures and its low ES’s along with good velocity within published data.
