I have primers (Winchester/Federal) from the 80's and 90's and never had FTF. Most times a primer can ever get messed up is in the priming process for brass.

I have several bricks of primers with the same packaging. All work really well including some of my best groups to date.

I've got a few hundred of the CCI just like pictured, as well as some yellow boxed I think say Western Winchester if I'm not mistaken. I got them from my grandpa, who I know was not reloading in 1936. I always figured they were from the late 60's early 70's.

Check out my thread "Speer primers" on the International Ammunition Association forum https://forum.cartridgecollectors.org/t/speer-primers/30322. The lot number 1-36 means Speer's 36th run of large rifle primers. The M in 200M stands for Military. These primers were meant for a military contract, perhaps to generate a military contract. My thread shows a pic of my box lot 1-84 with a military contract number. I would REALLY like to add that box and its contents to my collection. Your Wincester primers are from the 1928-1939 time frame. Can you read the lot number on the side? Does it say "non-mercuric". I'm working on dating the CCI boxes. The Remington primer boxes drive me nuts. Unlike their ammuniton, they used several lot numbering schemes with their primers that I've yet to sort out.

On the other hand, I have a black and white box (1000) of CCI primers, probably mid-late sixties vintage. I know they're still good, BUT they measure almost .002"+ over the .217 spec for large rifle primers. In other words, it takes a real effort to get them seated....far more than normal. Oh, they don't get crushed or anything, but the effort hardly seems worth it when I have later production CCI's that seat normally.

I have them marked "TOO LARGE" and keep them for the day when nothing else is available.......

CCI was not in business in 1936.
