Hi guys,
My Dads old Sears Ranger 101-16 semi auto, wont feed the shells anymore.
The shell being fed from the mag tube keeps feeding under the lifter. I dont know what its real name is lol!
So after it shoots it jams, with the shell below. There has to be a stop or something!
Hope I explained this GOOD enough.
Thanks so much for your help!
Terry

May be a simple as a disassemble and clean good. Old oils grease and dirt unburnt powder and dust may be slowing restricting or causing the lifter not to move like it should. A quick simple start would be pull it out of stock. and over a bucket and newspaper use a can of spray solvent gun cleaner. really spray it out good working the nooks and crannies. Let sit in bucket for 15-20 mins and repeat do this several times. blow out good with canned air or low pressure air gun Lightly oil and assemble. Then test it. Some of these have never been apart and have heavy deposits in them.

If its better after the above you need to disassemble and clean all the parts in solvents good and get all the crud out.

.

Terry, you have a store-branded Savage Model 6, also made as the Savage/Stevens/Springfield Model 87 = the earlier model termed "gill guns" due to the ventilation slots in the rear portion of the LH receiver sidewall.

Once upon a time, my then-new wife gifted me a Springfield 187 - samo-samo.

There's plenty of Gill Gun repair threads here: https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1143453

Bent both sides out, realigned it, and BINGO! Shells feed, in and out perfectly.
Thanks for the other website help, and yes it needs cleaned!
Found one on Numrich, I'll just replace it.
Dont know why it got all out of shape.

Paid for the firearm with dimes? Now that's a great story! Glad you got the problem solved. I've found a couple of old Sears and Western Field guns for dirt cheap that work just fine after a good cleaning as Country Gent's comment indicated. Sold cheap cause they didn't work but really just needed to come apart and be cleaned in good shape. Good way to learn the insides of a firearms and how it works, too.
Neat old guns. I even have an old Western Auto.

I just cleaned one up up for a friend. The "pow!chunkchunk!" Of the action working brought back memories. Don't tear one down unless you have to, they are not easy to get back together.

That does bring back memories!
I remember Dad in a field by G-Pa's pond, following a dragonfly POW! He shot it in-half! I always heard Dad was a crack shot. Then I knew! He was a Farm boy from childhood! They did alot of hunting, and shooting!
