My Ruger No.1 affliction continues (12)

Ruger never saw fit to make the big bores in the 1B which is far nicer to shoot than a 1A or 1S.

So what to do ? Buy 1Bs and send to Jesse !

Last year it was a 30-06 to 9.3x62, now another 30-06 to 35 Whelen.

Even though it's a "black pad", I bought it because -----

Currently bagged with HD stripper so it can become traditional English Red.

There's no accounting for taste. I much prefer the 1S and 1A to the 1B.

My current project is with Steve Durren. A Ruger No. 3 that's having a 1S 7mm Mag barrel installed after it gets relined to 32-20.

Gorgeous wood and the black pad didn't hurt at all. How about .400 Whelen?

THE 1A & S & H kick hard with factory level load and are even nasty w/mid range cast loads. Nice to carry but the B is much nicer for shooting steel and paper.

400 Whelen (G&H chamber) could be next if JES has the correct reamer. I have a G&H chambered 400 W by RF Sedgley, works well.

Beautiful wood!!!! My first was a 1B red pad243, should have kept it. Now it seems the calibers I want are in the shorties, you have a good plan! I would not have been able to walk away from that wood.....

I'm looking to have a #3/ 375win rebarreled to. 24-26" in same 375win cal. My gunsmith passed away a couple
years ago and I'm at loss to find a "professional" to do this. Not a real smith within 100miles of me. Need some
recommendations.
