Does anyone have a picture of an older red All American turret press torn down? I did a few searches but nothing good came up. I want to clean up the one I recently acquired and I’m not sure how the main shaft is retained other than the setscrew. I think it’s screwed in but I can only get about an 1/8 of a turn by hand and don’t want to force anything. Everything else seems easy enough.

I'd leave it in place and paint around it.

The main shaft is screwed into the base and then a roll pin was installed through the main casting right in front of the location where the swingarm primer bar is located.

I would not remove the main shaft.Mask it off if you want to paint.I have two with the original paint which looks well used and chipped.I have never considered repainting them.They work fine the way they are.
