....and the only thing I remember is Romans 8:35 being referenced so clearly, that I woke up to read it.

Romans 8:35
[35] Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?

And here’s the rest of the story...

Romans 8:36-39
[36] (As the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.") [37] No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. [38] And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. [39] No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In my experience when God speaks to me as plainly as he has to you I really need to hear what He has to say. I just said a little prayer for you and whatever you are, or may soon go through that prompted God to give you these scriptures. Hopefully he is giving you these scriptures to help someone else through a tough time. Another scripture that goes well with Romans 8:35 is just a few verses up in Romans 8:28. Read the entire verse. May God strengthen you daily.

I personally am not going through any particularly tough time, but I have a friend who is. I shared those verses with him, and together, we discussed the depth of what God is communicating to us through the writings of the Apostle Paul.

Sounds just like what your friend needed to hear from God through you. Funny how God works.

Interestingly enough, that same night he was at a discipleship class that his son was taking part in, and that same scripture was the topic of discussion.

I heard a statement one time that seems to apply here. " God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called." It sounds to me like He did not call you, He yelled at you. The best part about about that is that you listened and obeyed and allowed God to work His will through you. Your obedience has helped your friend and he has seen God through you. That is what we are all supposed to do as Christians. Thanks for the example you have shown me.
