View Full Version : Cast Bullets for 300 BLK - Mold? Powder Coat? Gas Check?

Recently put together a 10.5" 300 BLK rig. So far I have only reloaded cheap jacketed bullets for it. My questions are many, but foremost, what is my best choice for a good projectile that will run good through a one piece suppressor. Powder coating is the way to go as far as I can gather. Am I on the right track? Mold suggestions? Is running a GC designed bullet without the gas check a big issue?

Hands down NOE 311-152-SP and 4227. I would link my thread but I am on a phone and would never get it right. Accurate Moulds also has the 31-150W, I asked Tom to create that one. The key is the reduced nose diameter on both.

I guess I should have clarified, but with the suppressor I will be going for subsonic loads. A 152 gr pill is a tad light in my opinion. I have never purchased a NOE mold and have always felt a little hesitant to drop $75 on a 2 cavity aluminum mold.

I like the 230 grn + boolit over either 700X or TB

I have NOE:
312 -232 COWW 311-232-FN 5 NOE
311-238 GC COWW 311-247-FN 4 NOE

and could send you samples to try is interested

Ran these through an H&R Handi with a can and don't need hearing protection

I understand the hesitation, but NOE molds are head and shoulders above Lee molds in materials and workmanship.

Problem with the med weight is getting it to run AR and stay sub. You can with fast pistol powder (not 110) but no cycling. I've go some 185gr I want to try with reloder7, 4198 or 4895 might work in my 10". The Lee BT sub doesn't work well.

The hands down best powder choice in a 10 inch 300 BO AR for subsonic 200+ gr bullets is AA1680.

Running Accurate Mold #31-240A with H110. 1000 fps, powder coated. I can't help you with the financial decision but the mold is great.

I recently acquired a Mihec 30 cal. 130 gr. two cavity brass mold that I understand was designed for the 300 BO. It is a semi spire point convertable from flat point to shallow HP, and deep HP. I do not have a 300 BO but my 30/30 loves it as does my T/C 32/20. That mold makes absolutely gorgeous boolits.
