So................. I picked up this mold this week for my Winchester Model 10 SLR. Only thing is, do I hollow point both, one, or leave alone? I am thinking I will hollow point one cavity, just in case I want a solid. It will be used on occasions for close in deer and hogs in the Hill Country of Texas. I am also thinking of PCing these as well (I do have a hollow point sizing tip for the Lyman 4500). Let me hear some opinions.

One and one. It gives you more options.

I wouldn't bother with the H.P. Neither hogs or deer need it.

Plus one...

Or elk or bear. I’ve had very good luck hunting with wide-noses bullets.

Agree , after some extensive testing on South La. hogs and two deer , HP's are not necessary with a air cooled boolit , 50/50 COWW and lead . Hard boolits do not yield the same results...too brittle, they break up .

I would do one and one, at least at first. Load up both - one may shoot better than the other in your gun.

Make a short run of one and one each. Test them and see which shoots best then set the mould up 2 for 2 for that one and cast bunches

I've just been thinking the same thing, although in my case I have a 2 cavity mold, with two similar but different designs. Erik charges $70 for one or $100 for both. In your case I would do both cavities, and get both hollow point and flat point plugs.

That thing looks like a thumper. Its wide with a big meplat. It looks like good medicine as is.

I also agree with this.

I'd try it the way it is. If it doesn't do what you want you can always send it to Eric for some magic.
