Woodpecker Rapids made some fine barrels. They were assembled in another location. I have never seen a Tikka Barreled Moisin that did not shoot well (if the bore was in good shape). Good luck with the rifle,

Those are all m39's. The m27's are a little harder to come buy at a good price.

Very nice rifle but it is a Tikka rebuilt into a M39 as mentioned. A very good find none the less. I happen to prefer the M39 and have an excellent SAKO rebuild. They are indeed very nice shooters. Lee's C312-185 and Lymanans 314299 are both excellent shooters ove 5744 or 4895 in mine. I'm hoping the GB 311291 (actually should be called a 314291) will do as well.

No it is a model 27. Look at the rear sight, it also has the straight stock that only very early 39;s had, and the front band. M27 for sure.

Ah, right you are, it is a M27. A closer look showed the sling was giving the appearence of of the pistol grip stock of the M39. My bad. A nice M27 at that!

I didn't even notice Doug had posted here. Hey Doug. I just love the whole Finnish story and their rilfes.
Did a term paper my freshman year of college way back in the spring of 1983 on the "Winter War". Wished I had started looking for finns sooner then just a couple of years ago.

I did a real term paper in 1998. "Rifles of the White Death". I am in the process of reprinting the book as we speak.
I have always considered myself a rifleman and I try to inject my knowledge into my military rifle books. I started shooting competition with HP rifles a long time ago. When I started shooting in DCM Matches, the 1903-A3 was still a service rifle.
Another passion of mine is casting lead bullets. I have been doing it since 1957.

Doug:
Of the couple hundred gun books on my ready reference shelves, your "Rifles of the White Death" is one of the very best; and WHAT A TITLE! Will the reprint be a new edition? Please DO announce it here! I cherish my M39, which you led me to. Thanks!

I love all Finn rifles, don't have an M27 yet but hope to run across one someday. I have a M28 tika that shows alot of wear but still a excellent shooter. Good luck and give us a range report!
