hi, i have a .54 smooth bore investarms percussion gun. 1inch barrel across the flats. the wall mic's at .214. is it possible to ream this out to a .62/20ga? And is it worthwhile to do? advise? thank you irishtoo

It would probably be safe, but I would just get a better quality smoothbore.

Ok. Thanks. I have better 20ga smooth rifle. I throught it would make the investarms more usable

Investarms.... first check the depth of the dovetails for the wedge. See how much meat you will have left and then go from there. I would want 20 thou or more meat in the barrel after reaming. If it checks out ream from the breech and make a choked barrel.

I shoot a flinter .61 (32" Green Mountain smooth bore now rifled) on a TC Hawken stock.
Going to lighter weight changed the weight distribution to make it juuust right.

This is the Gold Standard for ANY rebore.

Investarms is a good quality Italian maker, and the source for Lyman GPR's, etc.

Assuming a dead straight even ream you will have about .190 barrel wall thickness if the barrel is 1.0 across the flats. Problem may be in breech area where pressures are highest. Depending on type of steel in the barrel this may or may not be an issue.
