I recently found a Smith Victory model chambered for the 38-200 British loading of the 38 S&W. It is very good shape with an excellent bore. I have a borrowed mold that casts a replica of the 200 grain slug. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on what to put behind it. The only powder I have tried is 1.7 grains of Bullseye . What might be some other powders to try ? Just use it for plinking and targets.

The 2.5 grain Bullseye load is max. for the Accurate bullets 36-187H and 36-190T which have only 0.275-0.30 seating depth.

With heavier bullets which require seating depth exceeding 0.3" do not exceed 2.1 grains Bullseye.

Thanks again. I am going to play with it later in the week ,that is if it will stop raining , and work on some light loads. The only bullets I have right now are the 200 grain round nose .

You may find that the 200-grainers shoot high, as the WW2 ammunition was the 178-grain Mk2.

Accurate has several bullets in that weight which are more effective shapes than the FMJRN

This is what I use in my Victory S&W with 2.5 grains of Bullseye
