Recently I purchased a new Shiloh Sporter #1 in .45/110 caliber from Kirk Bryan and family up in Big Timber, Montana and two days back I got a chance to try it out. I was shooting PP bullets and this is a 7 shot group (first group with this rifle) that it fired.

This is the 2nd group I fired from 200 yards. It's shooting the PP bullets quite well I think. This is on a 25 yard rapid fire pistol target. This group could have been tighter if I had made a wind correction because just prior to firing the shot seen at around 2 o/clock in the 9 ring...the wind picked up from 9 o/clock about 3-4 mph. I basically just wanted to see how the PP held up on elevation and it appears that I have found the load!

My thanks to Kirk Bryan and crew for making fine rifles!:drinks::drinks:

Those Shiloh rifles all shoot well I know as I have acouple of them. The only problem with the 45-110 is the pain in my shoulder after shooting 40 -50 rounds of ammo. So I use a sissy pad on my shoulder and forget about the recoil.

That is one GOOD looking "main gun round" !

I was very pleased with how my 45-110 shot. But it wasn't a match gun for me because after 20 rounds or so the pounding was distracting. My rifle was a hunting gun and only weighed about 11 pounds.

Here's another the rifle shot from 300 yards. This is six shots. Intended to shoot 10 but 'dark-thirty' caught me and I lost my light so I stopped at six! First 5 shots went into 2.080" vertical by 2.250 horizontal. There's a double in the X ring! I called the one out at 9 o/clock. This was with a 552 gr. Brooks Paper Patch.

That 300 group is right at the top of the pile ! Anyone says otherwise??? hah! no comment:roll:

Last time I shot a very similar gun/load at 300 had almost the same thing happen. Was trying to shoot MOA for five shots. Shot 4 into a cluster of about 2 X 2". That fifth shot always sneaks up and bites! During the shot a small gust from 3 O'clock pushed it about 3-4" out. Rats! There's always next time.

FPM - none too shabby a group @ 300. Congratulations. Looks like the recipe is working and the rifle is a keeper. Am sure when you stretch out the distance - you'll still be [smilie=1::-D too

If you don't and might want to ... try a 0.01 primer hole paper wad in your recipe. A couple of the Master shooters have been having excellent groups using the thick wad in their 45-90 and 110's.

I loaded several recipes this way in 38-55 ... 45-70 ... and 45-75. Plan to see how I can do with them next week on the steels and out to 1000

I am curious as to what powder you are using in this rifle....Is it Swiss?

You never mentioned in your other post...Thanks

It shoots equally as well with Goex 1F Express...if not better...... and with Goex......the fouling is much more moist! Same load which was 110 grs. with a F210Match primer.:drinks::castmine:

Is this the boolit that was "reverse engineered" from the factory loads Robert Bryan got from L.A. Huffman's grand son? Mr. Bryan was telling someone the story when I wandered by, at Quigley '07, and was showing some of the finer points of loading paper patch. (You can learn a lot from Mr. Bryan, Orville Loomer and Bill Bagwell by keeping quiet except for a few questions.)

Ed-K at Shiloh....who shoots a 50/90

Don't know about 'reverse engineering' but it's a PP bullet that weighs in at 552-553 gr. which Steve Brooks makes and it do quite well! I've shot a few groups since these were posted that do better than what's shown! From what I can tell so far....it's gonna be a 'hummer'! :drinks:[smilie=1:
