500 gr 45/70 in a CVA Accura .50 cal

I've cast up a few 45/70 500 gr boolits and am going to size them down to 452 and try them in a .50 sabot and try them with 60gr of powder in my CVA Accura....

Does anyone have any views on this ??

Yes, don't do it. Unless your gun was designed with enough strength to shoot TWO bullets on top of one powder charge, this just isn't a good idea. What's the purpose? Sounds like one of those "hold my beer and watch this" ideas. Your gun wasn't designed for those kind of pressure spikes. The Savage ML2 was designed to shoot smokeless powder and was built on a centerfire action. Savage strongly advised to NEVER shoot any bullets weighing over 300g in that gun. The weakest link in a ML is the breech plug due to thin walls where the threads are cut. Hey, it's your face, hands and fingers so do what you want. Just ask any bystanders to step back....and hold your beer.

Curious so I looked up the Accura manual. It specifically says not to use more than 400gn full bore bullets. I would assume that a slightly lower limit would apply to sabots.

They also say they are limited to 150gn powder in their barrels.

It does not say that the 400gn limit is while using 150gn powder.

Boy I am dense sometimes ... I read that to ask if a physical table, as in a settin table, were furnished with the rifle ... whewww ... better get some sleep i think.
