I recently inherited a Ranger pump action 20 gauge shotgun. The bolt release spring is broken and bolt release isn't working. I believe this to be an early Stevens 520. Double hump receiver, Safety inside trigger guard in front of the trigger. Possibly sold by Montgomery wards with the Ranger name. It is a take down gun in the old style the mag tube stays with the barrel and the barrel assembly slides out the bottom of the receiver. Its a nice well balanced quick handling shotgun with enough weight to be light recoiling. Has a 30" full choke barrel that probably very tight.

I have found a few sources for the spring listed as 12 16 gauge. Will these work in the 20 gauge as well? I have been told this is a complicated spring to make.

Since this was my Grandfathers gun I would really like to put it in working order and fire a few rounds thru it for nostalgia.

I have one in 12..Was sold by sears for 19.99 and they offered a payment program. I found that on the internet..A couple months ago Guns and Ammo had something on the ranger also, I do believe it was a Stevens made gun but it is late for my mind tonight. Hope you get it shooting again soon..
