I need to remove front sight on a Ruger Mk1 tapered barrel.
I can get the pin out that holds the sight on. But I can't get the sight itself to move.
I have had the gun since 1966. I recently replaced the tiny rear sight with an adjustable one. The gun is shooting way high with the adjustable sight adjusted all the way down.
Ruger kindly sent me a taller front sight at no charge.
I can't get the original front sight out. I have it soaked in Kroil right now.
Any other ideas, like some heat from a heat gun, etc.
Thanks for any advice!!!

heat it up a little. That should help the kroil penetrate.

I would try a brass punch, the same diameter as the width of the blade, and from the front of the blade, give it a few taps. Then, go to the back of the blade and give it a few taps. With Kroil, and gentle tapping,, it should loosen and become easier to get out. Sometimes alternating from front to back a few times can be necessary.
