Needed something at the LGS and just had to browse the used rack. Had one of these, pretty decent shape but with some stock rash, sitting there that I just couldn't pass up, especially for the price I paid. Has Remington Safari Classic on the floorplate with a lion on it and 1 of 100

Anyone have one if these and what cast loads do you use? Been thinking of trying Unique or possibly PB. Have molds from 235gr to 335gr, but leaning towards trying plain based bullets and RB's first, then trying the NOE 278gr boolit.

Thanks

I have the 700 Safari Grade .375. Mine was made in the early 1980's. I bought it new. I have a Leupold 4X scope on it. I use the Lyman 375449, with gas check. 4759 is my favorite powder, for this , as well as most other of my rifles. 26 gr gets around 1600 fps, and 35 gr gets around 2000 fps in my rifle. 35 gr is pretty warm. I prefer the 26 gr loading. Pleasant to shoot, and does everything I want it to. I bought a Lee collet neck sizer for it. The brass at this loading lasts almost indefinitely, being collet neck sized..

I don't have one, but wish I did. I really like the 375 H&H. Mine is a Weatherby MK V. I checked my logs for it and my most used load consists of the Lyman 375449 cast of wheel weights+2% tin using AA 5744 (31.7 gr) or IMR SR4759 (30 gr). Primer is shown to be Rem 9 1/2. My notes say that I planned to take the SR 4759 loads to Africa in Feb 2014. However further checking reveals that I chickened out on the cast load due to too many unknowns about the range for the various game to be hunted, and I opted for the Hornady 235 gr J-words bullet in lieu of the cast boolit. I used 63.5 gr of IMR 4064 for an estimated velocity of 2450'/s. BTW, my hunt was totally successful as I was able to take both the Black and Blue Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, and a Mountain Reed Buck with this rifle and those loads.
Enjoy the 375 H&H. It is one of the great calibers. Your Remington rifle is also a very fine piece.
