Several year ago picked up this 98 Krag. The fellow that did the metal work and stock work was a talented smith. Fella selling did not know what a rifle he had. Is one very accurate CB shooter. The inletting on this is superb. Thought you might enjoy a pic of the rifle.

Beautiful, how many cartridges does the blind magazine hold?

As a fellow Krag sporter appreciator, I enjoy looking at nicely done Krags such as yours.

Very nice rifle. Like Gewehr-Guy I'd like to know more about the magazine arrangement. Were it not for the visible extractor on top of the bolt I wouldn't know it is a Krag. The tell-tale cocking knob is missing, although I know some of the late carbines eliminated that feature.

The blind magazine holds three. Sure wish I could find the fella that did the smithing on this rifle. Next time I have the rifle apart I will send a pic of the blind magazine. This was truly being in the right place at the right time. The fella I was with at the gun show said if I had put the rifle down he would have bought it in an instant. You all have a great shooting season this year.

bobYes, clutching the rifle while reaching for the wallet is a learned behavior! Beautiful rifle you have there!

Hope this photo gives an idea of looking down on the blind magazine.

Very interesting. So the door on the right side of the rifle was completely eliminated, as apparently was the original feeding mechanism. It looks like, from what I can see in the photo, that the feeding device is now an accordion-type spring from the magazine of a Mauser that has been bent and formed. Have you fed any ammo through it yet?

Magazine system works fine. I will pull the stock and take a few pics. The inletting is very impressive on this rifle. I have read that the Krag was rather difficult to do a really good inletting on. I saw in a book that G&H at one time did such a conversion as this, but I cannot find any markings at all with their stamp.
