I'm going to start loading for .45 Colt again. I use and have a lot of WST and WSF powder on hand. The burn rates of both seem like they would be appropriate for light to standard .45 Colt loads but I haven't seen any load data using those powders.

Anyone try these powders in .45 Colt and what results have you had? Bullet will be cast from WW in the Lee 452-255-RF.

Thanks!

WST 7.5 grains approximates factory with 255-grain lead.

Clean burning and accurate. Does not exceed SAAMI MAP.

Thanks! Sounds like a good place to start.

I was able to try this load today in my 16" Winchester 94 Trapper and was pleasantly surprised. Average velocity was 1080 fps with a 5.7 SD. I shot a couple of 4" groups at 50 yards. Might not sound like much but with my old eyes, cataracts, and the sun glaring off the sights I'll take it. At least today that was probably as good as I was going to do.

You can safely adjust the charge up or down up to a half grain to determine best accuracy, but my experience has been that best rifle grouping is with the 1080 fps load you are using, so as to avoid transonic buffeting. In my 5-1/2" Ruger revolver velocity is 880 fps with Acurate 45-262H.
