It's good to be in a place where you can observe and reflect on the many blessings we to often take for granted. Have a great day hunting!

I agree 100%. Most of my time in a stand is used observing nature around me.

Nothing like seeing and hearing the woods come alive as the sun lights up the morning darkness.
Enjoy your time afield and hope you see something wether you shoot or not seeing what you came out to see is just an added blessing.
I'm in the stand now with a bow. No deer or turkeys yet but plenty of squirrels and birds to marvel at.

BBBB, the thread "44-40 Stub Job" is still up on The Barrel Works section of the gunsmithing forum. It's a fun one.
I passed on a 50 yard offhand shot at a doe, then I played hide and seek with her for a little while. I decided to take her if she came closer - and she was- and then turned and ran off; joined by a bigger rump & flag. Probably her boyfriend! SO I still hunted back to the house where breakfast was waiting- a perfect hunt before Church.

Thomas,

I think I know why that doe would not come any closer to you. Your boots are not CAMO !
I'm sure you will score with that deadly 44/40 soon.
Have a Happy Christmas !

admirable, most of us don't know enough to stop and reflect on how fortunate we really are and before we know it, life, true life, has passed us by and all we have to show for it, is possesions no memories of sunset/rises memorable occasions or all the little things to think about and remember when time catches up and makes us all equall

Personally, I believe it is a"Good Mornign": to wake up to the New Day just dawning, and both hear and see it slowly awake and arise Fresh and Clean with the Sun.

There is something wonderful about watching the world wake up in the woods. Had to go back and re-read the thread about your ".44-40 stub". Great thread. I've always wanted a rook rifle and stubbing might be the way toward that end. What a great woods walker it would be.

When we had a lease near San Angelo my favorite things were watching the new day come in and watching the animal behavior. I could sit and watch all of that without worrying about taking a shot. --Unless a big hog strolled in.
