I just purchased a Marlin 336A 1950 model ballard rifling. I intend to shoot cast bullets & need some advice on loads for it. It is chambered for 35 Remington.

Congrats on a nice pick up. I not any help on the ballard but do load for 4 micro grooves. IMR 4198 has been my go to powder and I use a RCBS clone 200 gr., gas check and powder coated that drops about 215gr and also have a no groove on the same design that drops 207.

Yes I agree with you. I have other Marlins & the powder I use the most is IMR4198. Good accuracy & meters very nicely.

Keep your velocities low for accuracy once they get to fast your accuracy will go down

Congrats ! You bought a 1st year (for the .35 Remington) in the Model 336, first introduced in 1948.

I don't have a Marlin presently but I did have. I have 5 other 35Rems - Rem 14s, 141s & 8s. I have
just sold of 336 and 81. I have used IMR-4064 in them for years. When I shot them a lot plinking and target I shot a lot of cast/ gas checked 357 pistol bullets
