I understand that these were two different hollowpoint profiles. One that expands generously at lower velocities (358439), even 38 Special velocities, while the 358429HP is a smaller cavity (so the bullets cast up a bit heavier) and presumably is more moderate expanding and deeper penetrating.
What is unclear to me are the actual dimensions of the cavities.
I was going to send off a double cavity 358429 that I have to Erik for a hollow point conversion. I intend to use this with both 38 Special (6.0 grains of PowerPistol) and 357 Mag at normal mid-range to warm loads (basically 13-14 grains of 2400). I am having trouble deciding if I want to just go with the 439 on both or if one pin should be a 429HP or even a cup point for more controlled expansion.
Has anyone ever compared cup points to the standard flat point with the same alloy?
Thanks in advance.
