Got the call from my sister a few hours ago that we lost mom. Gonna head down there now as I'm the second closest, this wasn't unexpected, she was 90 and had been going down hill for a long time, I'm worried about how my dad is gonna deal with this, all my brothers and sisters will be around within a day or two, right now my sister and I need to rally around Dad. I'd appreciate any thoughts and prayers for my family

Prayers to you and your family. I know how you feel as my 86 year old mom was in and out of the hospital 4 times this year and spent over 2 months in hospitals or rehab. Dad has been holding up, but it definitely is getting to him.

Thanks, guys, I really appreciate it. Drove down yesterday, made arrangements with my older sister running the show for the most part. Dad is taking it surprisingly well considering they were married 58 years and for the past couple caring for her has been the main purpose he's had. I think he's gonna be alright.

My youngest brother is in Iraq and getting him back is the worrisome part. The Red Cross actually is pretty efficient at making this happen. Haven't heard from him since the night before last, I hope that means he's enroute.

This came at a hard time as I had already scheduled a trip with my son who got out of the Marine Corps a year ago to go back to N.C. and get his house on the market. Rough week, but bottom line we did. Just got back this morning. Mom asked to be cremated and it gave some flexibility to my sister who planned her memorial for tomorrow when we could get all the siblings together. Younger brother from Iraq is here now, we'll head down tomorrow for a Sunday service.

I truly appreciate the thoughts and prayer, guys. It means a lot.

Yes it is a really hard time for those left behind. It sounds like your mom is now in a better place and not having any more health issues. I know that is very comforting but there is that void that will never be filled. I pray for all the family and especially your dad. I believe you said they were together 58 years. That is a blessing but I'm sure your dad will miss her greatly. TLC from you kids will go a long way to help heal the deep hurt that he is feeling.
