This moose was shot by a friend of mine with my 45-70 Marlin Guide Gun using a 350gr cast from my Saeco Mold. Velocity on the bullet was 1950 fps and I used #2 mix for material. We recovered one of the bullets in the off shoulder, recovery weight was 182grs. The other round went through the moose and not recovered. The weight on the moose was est. over 800lbs. I'm on the left he's on the right, it took us over 6 hours to get him out. I called him to 25 yards when he shot.http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee193/hunterns/IMG_12001.jpg

Greetings ! 800 pounds !!! Had to look like an APC coming through the brush ! AS thick as that brush is no wonder you called to 25 yards ! That boolit was flat moving on impact... I dought a jacket would hold together much better. Thanks for the picture. My friend Tim Page has been asking me for years to come up and "thin out" his back yard moose herd...

Nice work! I have a Handi in 45/70 and load a 405gr Lee bullet. It will hit the Ga deer woods in 2 weeks. I just ate some moose sticks that a buddy brought back from AK. They were good.

This was our first time hunting moose. Two grunts on a call and this bull came looking for a fight. This is only the second animal that has been shot with this rifle and bullet combo. Last year I shot a nice black bear, he was only 12 feet under my feet in my tree stand. I love that rifle and caliber for short range work here in the thick stuff.http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee193/hunterns/IMG_12091.jpg

I added some more pictures of my bear last year and another moose that came in while we were dressing out our moose. We had to stop this young bull at 30 feet he was making me a little nervous.

Nice going Hunterns. A nice moose indeed. That 45-70 round sure stops them in their tracks at that close range.

That part about being "Nervous", I can relate. He sound like a freight train coming thru the bush, and if your not prepared for it, it can be intimidating. I've seen guys bolt and run, scared poopless over the ordeal, thinking that perhaps they were done for.

You'll have some good eating come this winter. Want to trade for some "Bou" or "Elk"?

All I used to call that moose was the old juice can and string. Two rips on that and he came a calling. Was suprised how something so simple would work. We tried other calls but this old can did the trick.

Has anyone told you that when posting photos of animals taken with a cast boolit, all members who respond are to be allotted a share of the "goods"? I'll take mine fried with 'taters and onions, please.:kidding:

Seriously, great job fellas, keep up the good work!
