Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that Midway Usa has the RCBS Pro melt 2 on clearance for $199. To make the deal sweeter, there is a rebate that is applicable too! That is the lowest I have found so far. Hope it makes your day!

Great to know. If I needed a furnace, might be the right time to buy!

seams the reviews are all over the place, anybody here care to commit on how they like theirs.

I was thinking the same thing. It'll be a wait and see for another six months or so before I'll consider one.

I found someone with a new Pro Melt (not the "2") that I can get for $150 plus $20 or so shipping. Wondering which option is best.

Looks like they are having a $25 rebate as well.

Still using the first ProMelt I ever saw right after RCBS bought them out, I think. Anybody know how old and new compare? Seems like I paid close to $300 for it. Never a problem in last 20 something years.

Just paid 289$ at midway, but if you spend over 300$ total on rcbs you get a rebate of 100$. So, 200$ for the pro melt 2. Only ran it a few weekends but WOW. moving from a lee 20lb pot ( good pot I had for ALOT of years) to this was a big leap. Love the PID and it melts FAST. Passing on the Lee pot to a friend just starting out along with a couple molds he can use. Paying it forward and clearing room on the bench

I got a ProMelt 2 when they first came out, after being on the "Notify Me When Available" list for a year. It dripped much more than the Lee 4-20 it was meant to replace, even with very clean lead. I read in one of the threads on this site that RCBS has an upgraded valve stem available. I filled out the customer support form online and had the replacement part in a week, no charge. Huge improvement. Now it is a pleasure to use. An occasional drip at higher temps, but overall it is a night and day improvement.

I can't comment on the new pot, but my old Pro Melt has served me for years. I just give it a complete cleaning once a year and it still works like new. If I lost mine I would probably buy the new one just because it would be backed by RCBS, so far they have stood behind every thing I have purchased from them.
